5. Our lawful bases
Where UK data-protection law applies, we rely on one or more lawful bases, depending on the circumstances:
- Consent — for example, where you choose to receive certain notifications.
- Contract — where processing is necessary to provide membership or account services.
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure and improve the club’s services.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information by law.
- Vital interests — where information is needed to protect someone in an emergency.
6. Firebase and service providers
The app uses Google Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication, Firebase Realtime Database and Firebase Cloud Messaging. These services help us manage secure sign-in, store app data and deliver push notifications.
We may also use hosting, email, video, mapping and technical service providers. These organisations may process information on our behalf only as required to provide their services and subject to their own legal obligations.
RTSC does not sell personal information.
7. Push notifications
With your permission, the app may send notifications about fixtures, results, live matches, team selections, club news, events and important announcements.
You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings. Disabling notifications does not prevent you from using the rest of the app.
8. Third-party links and content
Our services may link to or display content from third parties, including YouTube, Play-Cricket, Google Maps, league websites and social-media platforms.
Those services operate under their own privacy policies. RTSC is not responsible for how third-party services collect or use information after you leave our website or app.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website may use essential cookies, local storage or similar technologies to provide functionality, remember preferences, maintain security and improve performance. Where consent is legally required for non-essential cookies, we will request it before those cookies are used.
10. Children and junior members
RTSC supports junior sports activities. Information relating to a child should be provided or managed by a parent, guardian or authorised club representative where appropriate.
We aim to collect only information reasonably necessary for participation, safeguarding, communication and club administration. Parents or guardians may contact us to request access, correction or deletion of a child’s information, subject to legal and safeguarding requirements.
11. Data sharing
We may share information only where reasonably necessary, including with:
- Authorised RTSC committee members, administrators, managers and captains.
- Service providers that operate our technology and communications.
- Relevant leagues, governing bodies or event organisers where required.
- Professional advisers, insurers, regulators or law-enforcement authorities where legally necessary.
We do not share personal information for unrelated third-party advertising.
12. International processing
Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we expect appropriate legal safeguards to be used, such as adequacy regulations, approved contractual protections or another lawful transfer mechanism.
13. Data retention and security
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including account management, club administration, safeguarding, legal compliance and dispute resolution.
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information. These may include authenticated access, encrypted transmission, access controls and restricted administrative permissions. No internet-based system can be guaranteed completely secure.
14. Your rights and account deletion
Depending on the law that applies, you may have the right to:
- Request access to your personal information.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal information.
- Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Request a portable copy of information in certain circumstances.
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
